Environmental impact assessment (EIA) is an integral component of sound decision-making. helps to prevent or reduce environmental harms by informing the decision-makers likely impacts intended project, its alternatives and/or mitigation measures before implementation starts. This study examines effectiveness Tanzania EIA laws and related practice on protection Outstanding Universal Value (OUV) world heritage sites during development projects. The used data obtained from government officials, policies, reports; United Nations Educational, Scientific Cultural Organization World Heritage Committee scholarly works. demonstrates that are inadequate ensure effective OUV against caused do not guarantee broader participation stakeholders inclusion in study. study, therefore, recommends for reform institutions responsible supervising EIA.
